Virtue Samplers

The inspiration for this publication was the "Be Ye Kind & True" sampler. This design was published in 1991 by Better Homes and Gardens Cross Stitch magazine, but never released by me. It is a timeless design that I felt needed to be reprinted and updated. Hence, the two "Virtue" samplers included. "Be Ye Kind & True" was stitched on 27 Count "Natural Undyed" linen, using two plies over two threads of DMC floss. It would be stunning if you changed DMC to over-dyed silks. It is embellished with our Olde Brass "Strawberry" button. Both of the "Virtue" samplers are stitched on 28 Count "Vintage Examplar" hand-dyed linen, courtesy of Lakeside Linens. The large sampler is stitched with Waterlilies "Cherry" by Caron Collection, using two plies over two threads. The small design is stitched with Belle Soie Silk "Mudpie" by Crescent Colours, using two plies over two threads. The models are framed as follows. "Be Ye Kind & True" is custom framed, the large "Virtue" sampler is mounted in an antique frame from my collection, and the smallest "Virtue" sampler is mounted in our 6" X 8" "Gently Swirled" Brown Grained frame.
